  1. Hello everyone! I’m in Poole, Dorset with 8 month old twin boys and a 6 year old boy! It’s the craziest journey ever but one I look forward to sharing with like minded people x

  2. I’ve got one like this. Both used to be like it but it seems to have got better for twin 2 since he’s started walking. They are 19 months, 16 corrected. I tend to just give them food and run and tell myself it’s a faze and it won’t last forever but it’s tough! Especially when it’s both of them.

  3. My boys are 8 months now and thankfully have slept pretty well most of the time! if I remember rightly I’m sure there is a developmental leap at 5 months that made our sleeping terrible! If you don’t have it already I’d recommend downloading the wonder weeks app as that shows when the babies are having a leap and what it can affect etc. also as @Abi.P said it may be that they are hungry and it could be worth considering introducing some solids see if that helps. I tend to leave the boys to whinge I know it’s annoying as you’re awake but I didn’t want to have to soothe them every time. I usually go in first time and put their dummy in and pay their tummy or back and sssshhhh them and look at them whilst doing it. Second time I go in I put the dummy in and just pat their back or tummy. Third time I go in put their dummy in then leave again with no eye contact. As hard as it is with these sleep regressions I promise it does pass but I’m sure the 5 month one was a stinker x x

  4. Hahaha yep most certainly was! We had all our presents in a pillow case each that was at the bottom of our bed and we would go round in age order (always youngest first!) In the morning opening our presents so we could see what everyone had got! Father Christmas would always give us one or two presents either joint with me and my brother or separate ones and then the rest were from my parents. We always used to get a family game for the console we had at the time as well and also a present that the whole family could use - one year we got an ice hockey table and I absolutely loved it!! Absolutely loads of random things! There are a few that I want to bring in myself (e.g. cashforkids (a Wave105 thing) - giving presents to children who might not be getting any this year - I want the girls to choose a present each (probably from next year!) that they will give to cashforkids - I did this myself before I had them and I want to carry that on now with them. Although I'll be doing the choosing this year!)

  5. @Abi.P hi, yeah my girls are the same 13 months (12 corrected) and they are going through the same thing, everytine I leave a room or are out of their sight they come walking after me crying. Iv noticed they have got very very clingy and constantly wanting to be lifted by anyone. It it’s very hard mentally. I can’t really give advice as I haven’t yet figured out something that works other than distracting them with books and toys and when they don’t realise I sneak out of the room. Other than that I just let them cry a bit because as you said I got things to do in the house, so so sorry I can’t be of help with any advice I just wanted to let you know your not alone and it’s happening to others too. Hopefully it will all pass soon 🤞🏻❤️

  6. Just wondering if anyone can offer any advice on car seats. The twins have still got lots of room left in their maxi cosi pebbles but I want to get prepared in case I can get a bargain in the sales after Christmas. The rules for rear facing for longer weren’t around when my eldest was a baby. So I like the look of the Britax M Dualfix but they are around £290 each 😱😱 Has anyone got any reviews of this car seat? I liked it as it can be rear facing up to 15 months. Has anyone got any other suggestions?

  9. Hi! My name is Tasha, I’m 22 and mum to my identical twin girls Lily and Sasha born at 29 weeks. We had a rough start with 3 months in the nicu but my girls are now 6 months and thriving albeit tiny. I love going to twin club in Wimborne and chatting with all the other mums however I have suffered with M.E for about 9 years and had quite a few relapses since my girls came along so I don’t get to go as often as I’d like! Looking forward to chatting to you all!!

  12. Thanks for the welcome! It has definitely been a full on few weeks, hopefully it doesn’t last too much longer! My twin girls are 11 months and my boy is 2 1/2. So they are all very full on! The sooner I can get them all out to the park the better 😅

  14. Hi everyone, introducing myself to all you twin mammy's and daddy's! I have identical twin boys who are 18 days old, they are the best thing to ever happen to me and I thank my lucky stars everyday for blessing me with not 1 but 2! Beautiful boys. At the moment I am trying to get into a nice routine especially with daddy returning to work 😔 👎. I am excited for what the future holds but I dont want to miss a second of this tiny newborn stage! My hormones are currently all over the place I feel sorry for my partner! I feel I'm going crazy at times lol. I had a pretty traumatic birth so im still trying to come to terms with everything that happened, although I can see the boys and can see that they are thriving it still doesn't make it any easier!

  15. @Issy yes its unfortunate, the way I see it though is it's her loss, the babies are 3 weeks old today every second that passes they are getting older and thats time you cant get back. Ah thank you! It really doesn't feel like it some days, since they were born all the days seem to have rolled into one! I'm lucky my partner is 100% hands on, I certainly wouldnt manage without him. How old are your twins? What age were they when you established a routine? Xx

  16. He does find it a struggle it’s hard work. No we had been together maybe 18months or so? So it’s all happened rather quickly.

  17. Wish I'd have had one of these looks really good we managed without thought and probably not worth getting now at 6 months!

  18. I thought this would be a fun one to do.. I'll start! This was me at 36 weeks, a few days before c- section! Note how shiny it was 😂😂 people thought I'd oiled it.. just stretched I'm afraid! Issy xx

  19. I found it easier from when they could sit up and felt a bit more solid. I pick one up and then grab the other holding on to a belly or leg. Then I just bounce them around until it feels comfortable. They think it’s hilarious 😂

  20. I agree with @Issy on this one about controlled crying - it's not for everyone though so completely understand if you don't want to do it! I've just had to start it up again with my two as they used to be good at napping! They are very clingy at the moment as they are going through a leap and they are sometimes horrible trying to get to sleep for a nap. I did find of one mine wanted me in the room for a bit to settle but would eventually get off to sleep. Is there anyone that could watch your two year old for an hour or so, so you could have a nap?

  21. It's easier when they can stand - but I can only do it from their cot, I can't quite manage from anywhere else! x

  22. @Issy @James ah thanks for your replies guys! yes they were tiny last year and it all seems a blur haha. We’re lucky with the support here but now the weathers turning I’m trying to find more indoor activities. What do you guys do with your children when it’s bad weather! No way! So many people don’t even know of jersey so always nice to speak to people who’ve been!

  24. It's more common than you think. My twins were IVF and I think all the drugs in my system hung around so boosted everything. x

  25. Ooohh @Clairey V so sorry that you're having a bit of a rough time at the moment ☹️ these twins do love to test us hey?! As @Issy said, I like to have a good cry too sometimes and makes me feel so much better! Hope things look better for you tomorrow and remember we are all here 😊 xx

  27. thank you very much for this and for your wishes :) We are smitten despite the emotions :) what pillow did you get? i think this will save me as feeding one by one is too difficult . I definitely understand now how different they are re feeding etc. I think you often forget in the start that they are two different people :). thanks again for your help. I really appreciate it. I am sure I will be asking lots of questions soon :) x

  28. Hi Mali, Congratulations on your baby girls! I had (and still have) exactly the same where I feel one isn't feeding much and the other guzzles. The Joy's of twins...🙄 I wasnt able to breastfeed so we have always done bottles. If you havent got one, my twin pillow is the best thing for feeding (especially when your husband goes back to work!) It's honestly the best item that was bought for us. Also, go with your gut instinct. My little boy only drinks bits and Bob's here and there so we do more feeds where as my little girl drinks for Britain so she has more of a set routine. It is tough to begin with when you have to do it on your own but make sure you always have help on hand. I am 5 months in with my two and we are getting in a good routine but still have people on hand just incase! Here if you need xxx

  29. So this morning we were all meant to be going off to a party. It was only because I made my eldest change his vest whilst getting dressed because he’d soaked it brushing his teeth! When I took the best I notice random spots on his back, chest, tummy, face, head and groin. He seems fine in himself just looks a bit pale and is slightly off his food. But I have bought head and shoulders shampoo as I’ve heard this is amazing to bath them in when they have the pox. I’ve also got calamine, poxclin mousse, piriton and calpol. I know that you shouldn’t even use ibuprofen for chicken pox. Have I missed anything or does anyone have any hints and tips on how to get through it?! I imagine it won’t be long until the twins get it which I dread! I was only talking about vaccinating them with a friend not so long ago too 🤦‍♀️

  31. Welcome to the group. You are not alone in feeling overwhelmed,it can be very hard at times, my twin girls are 17 months old and lately they are squabbling over everything. Xx

  32. @James thanks for the welcome - I don't live too far from Temple Meads if that's the train station you use? We have a twin group but it's the other side of Bristol (30 min drive) which would be fine if my little man didn't doze off after being in the car for more than 15 minutes - I can't be dealing with going off routine 🤣. I haven't actually looked into homestart but I have heard of it! I'm not that great socialising myself to be honest as I'm always very quiet in person. @Issy hey! I'm absolutely loving them, everyone told me life will get easier but tbh im finding them being more mobile now gives them a bit of independence. But my boy is just into everything 🤣 they are called Lexi and Lincoln. @Clair Hiya 😊 I'm in knowle, Weston is about a 40 min drive from my house

  35. I'm proud of myself today i looked after another twin mums babies all by myself (with my two also in tow) for a few hours while she had a sleep ,she's not been well so I offered to have the babies for a while. I had a little panic before I went to hers thinking how and why did I offer to do this I won't be able to cope!!!!! But I thought about how much this will help her and I sucked it up because shes such a good friend to me. And I did it!!!! And it was okay, and I felt so good after (tired!) But good !!!!

  38. Hello @Clair and welcome!! Good to hear you are doing ok now as PND is horrible!! My two play quite well also (mostly) which is nice!! Sometimes I do miss them as babies and how cute they were when they were really tiny but I have definitely found it a bit easier as they are now a bit older and understand a bit better!!

  39. Just wondered what everyone thinks of the news of Mothercare going ? Personally I think for everyday it was a little expensive, bit for gifts it was perfect ! And I used to love a wander around the stores , so I'll be sad to loose it ! Issy x

  40. Can I just say a massive thank you to everyone! I really appreciate all your comments and am going to give everything a go. I think it is that she is hungry. I usually only give them half an Aldi puree pouch to share at lunch but today I gave them the whole pouch to share and they had a bottle which they finished off, so clearly hungry! Will be getting some porridge as well. Thank you for all being amazing and brilliantly helpful! Xxx

  44. We have had Our home start volunteer since July and she’s been a god send! She’s helped me take the twins to weekly weigh ins, she’s watched them whilst I did housework, some weeks she’s just been someone to talk to and other weeks we’ve gone to baby groups together. She really is incredible and the help she’s given me has been invaluable

  47. When I finished for maternity leave I was dead set that I didn't want to go back to my job there ! I had been there for 15 years and I decided I'd had enough!!... Fast forward a year and I have slightly changed my tune.. I've decided to go back 2 days a week (they have agreed to this) my main goal is to move home to a bigger house so I need to go back to get the bigger mortgage !! Issy x

  48. We have the bugaboo Donkey 2 and it’s amazing. We were lucky and managed to get one second hand in really great condition. We preferred to have the twins to be side by side. The donkey folds up into ‘single’ mode in order to save space in boot of car but as we have an SUV we’re fortunate to leave it in ‘twin mode’ and just put the seats in. It’s no wider than a standard wheel chair so access through doors is not a problem. It also had a car seat bracket to allow you to clip the car seats on when needed.
